ABOUT ME

I’ve always had a creative and curious mind and I believe that’s the main reason I went into advertising. But life has a way of happening and suddenly I saw myself taking a detour and instead of going to a creative area, I ended up starting a career as a project/account manager.

I think that tapped into another personal skill of mine: being organization obsessed. And so I started going up the ladder, from intern to assistant, to junior account manager, to executive account manager, to the founder of my own company. This was 12 years in the making, enough time for me to have the opportunity to work at the best ad agencies in my city (Porto Alegre, Brazil) and the largest publishing group in the country, working with and learning from extremely talented people.

When I started Arquipélago I had a vision and a goal in my mind: to be able to put together teams of talented freelancers, aiming to help small and medium-sized companies, that needed quality design, communication, and marketing materials, but lacked the budget to hire a full-fledged ad agency.

One of our first jobs was designing the brand of Tag Livros, a book subscription club in Brazil that would end up becoming the largest in the country, with over 50.000 monthly subscribers.

But Arquipélago was never meant to be a traditional agency. I saw it as an extension of myself and of my profile as a professional: to help clients achieve their goals by providing the best possible solution for that. Even if, at the time. I didn’t know how to do it.

And this lead to the next phase in my career, which saw me going back to my origins and allowed me to put to practice my creativity and curiosity. Since Arquipélago’s inception, in 2012, I was able to add to my project manager roles other positions such as copywriter, photographer, event planner & manager, video maker, illustrator, graphic and web designer.

I believed that by learning a bit about everything I would better understand each of these roles, and see what were the necessary skills to do each of these jobs. This would make hiring freelancers easier, both to explain the complexity of a job and to know what could be expected from them. But more than that, it reconnected me with graphic and web design, two areas I had always been enchanted with.

During the 8 years I’ve been working at Arquipélago we helped over 50 companies start or develop their business, by creating or redesigning new brands, developing websites, and coordinating social media and print campaigns.

Since 2016 I’ve been shifting my area of expertise, focusing more on graphic design and web design, and developing brands and websites myself, for clients in Brazil, the United States, and Europe.

And regarding my curiosity, I always want to learn and to gather more knowledge. And that’s why I’ve decided to do a User Interface course, which saw me add several new skills to my toolset. After 640 hours of this immersion course, I’m now starting the third stage of my professional life, working as a UI Designerbut always bringing along the knowledge and experience harnessed in my previous careers as an account manager and a business owner.
