Label designs for Cervejaria Portoalegrense‘s American IPA and Milk Stout beer cans. Cervejaria Portoalegrense is a local crafts beer manufacturer. Their communication approach uses lots of traditional and cultural elements connected with Porto Alegre and Rio Grande do Sul, the southernmost state of Brazil.

PORTOALEGRENSE MILK STOUT

Milk Stout beers have a key and distinguished ingredient: the use of lactose on the beverage’s formula. The idea, then, was to explore this characteristic. 

PORTOALEGRENSE AMERICAN IPA

For the American IPA labels the idea was to explore iconic landscapes of Porto Alegre, applying Photoshop filters on photos of the city and with illustrations of a local artist, which depicted some of the city’s main tourist attractions.

Another label idea was to create some sort of “tag cloud” with strong local keywords, of types of local beverages, foods, places and sports teams.
